GLENN POWELL
NUNEZ COMMUNITY COLLEGE
HEAD COACH
ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
Glenn Powell is the head baseball coach and athletic director at Nunez Community College in Chalmette, Louisiana. He has led the Pelicans baseball program since its inception in 2017. A native of St. Bernard Parish, Powell's deep roots in the community fuel his passion for coaching and mentoring young athletes. He began his baseball journey playing at the youth level in St. Bernard, continued at Chalmette High School, and later competed at St. Bernard Community College, and has culminated in over 15 years of coaching experience, at all levels before taking the helm at Nunez.

Under his leadership, the Pelicans have achieved significant milestones, including three consecutive winning seasons and a historic berth in the NJCAA South Regional in 2024. That same year, Powell celebrated his 100th career victory as head coach during a doubleheader sweep against John Melvin University. The 2025 season marked the program's most successful year to date, with a record of 33-17. Four players—Dorien Jackson, Jayce LaCava, Brock Loque, and Eli Woodard—earned NJCAA Region 23 All-Conference honors. His strategic vision and commitment to consistency have positioned the Pelicans as a competitive force in NJCAA Division I Region 23, facing strong opponents like Baton Rouge CC, Delgado CC, and LSU Eunice.

Powell’s leadership has not only elevated Nunez’s athletic profile but also strengthened its ties to the St. Bernard Parish community, making him a pivotal figure in both the college and the region’s baseball landscape.

ALEX POWELL

PITCHING COACH
DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
Alex Powell serves as the assistant baseball coach and Director of Development at Nunez Community College in Chalmette, Louisiana, where he plays a pivotal role in the success of the Pelicans baseball program. A native of St. Bernard Parish, Powell brings a wealth of local knowledge and a deep commitment to the community to his roles. He joined the Nunez coaching staff in 2019 as the Recruiting Coordinator and 3rd Base coach. Contributing to the program’s growth under head coach Glenn Powell.

Alex now focuses on the Pitching Staff and player development. His coaching has been instrumental in the Pelicans’ rise, including their standout 2024 season, where the team achieved a 33-17 record and secured a berth in the NJCAA South Regional. Powell’s dedication to mentoring athletes has helped produce four NJCAA Region 23 All-Conference players in 2024, showcasing his ability to develop talent at the collegiate level.

In his role as Director of Development, Powell spearheads fundraising and community outreach efforts for the Nunez Community College Foundation.

A former player at Chalmette High School and a graduate of Nunez Community College, Powell’s passion for baseball and his alma mater drives his work.

BLAINE SPENCER
NUNEZ COMMUNITY COLLEGE
ASSISTANT COACH
RECRUITING COORDINATOR
Blaine Spencer serves as an Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Nunez Community College, joining the staff in the summer of 2025. He brings a wealth of experience from his previous role at Louisiana Christian University. Spencer was a key figure at Louisiana Christian University (LCU), where he served as the Catching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. A key member of the Wildcats’ coaching staff, Spencer played a pivotal role in guiding the team to a Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championship and an NAIA Regional berth in 2024.
A native of Bunkie, Louisiana, Spencer played collegiately at LCU as a catcher before transitioning to a student assistant role. His coaching career extends beyond LCU, including a successful stint as head coach of the Hornell Steamers in the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) during the 2024 season. Spencer’s coaching resume also includes serving as owner and director of Team Louisiana Cenla, head coach for Team Louisiana in 2022, and assistant coach for the Baton Rouge Rougarou in 2023. Beyond the diamond, he was a special education teacher in the Rapides Parish School District and holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from LCU. Currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports administration from Arkansas State.

REGGIE BERGERON
NUNEZ COMMUNITY COLLEGE
INFIELD COACH
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COORDINATOR
Reggie Bergeron serves as an assistant coach for the Nunez Community College Pelicans baseball team in Chalmette, Louisiana. A former standout player at John Curtis Christian High School, Bergeron joined the Nunez coaching staff in 2024. During his high school career, he was a key contributor to the Patriots' success, helping the team secure a tie for the District 9-5A championship and reach the Division I semifinals. He signed to play baseball at Nunez Community College in 2021. He is a homegrown talent born and raised in St. Bernard Parish.

As a student-athlete at Nunez, Bergeron excelled academically, earning a spot on the Dean's List for the Fall 2021, Spring 2023, and Fall 2023 semesters and was voted Captain by his Nunez Teammates in 2023. Transitioning into his coaching role, Bergeron brings his on-field experience and dedication to the Pelicans, assisting Head Coach Glenn Powell in developing the team's players in the weight room. His deep understanding of the game, particularly at the infield positions, and his commitment to excellence make him a valuable asset to the Nunez baseball program. Bergeron continues to contribute to the team's growth while pursuing his bachelor's degree at Northwestern State.
